They say that home baked is best, but if you’re in a pinch, there’s always Al’s bakery right in the heart of downtown Tillyville. Al got one of his favorite recipes from Tilly, and Tilly got it from his grandfather. And now we’re passing it on to you. Enjoy!

Tilly's Grandpa's Grape Cake Recipe:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cream 1/2 pound sweet cream butter with one cup white sugar.
Beat in 3 eggs.
Mix in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Sift in 2 cups of flour with 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
Mix thoroughly.
Pour batter into a buttered 12 inch spring pan.
Press seedless grapes (red or green or both) into the batter.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until the top is golden brown.

Ah, there’s nothing like a generous slice of Tilly’s Grandpa’s grape cake and a mild cup of hot tea to go along with a story from Tillyville.  Subscribe!  It's free! It’s the right recipe.
